Detox # 3 - Neti Pot
Where are my fellow Neti Pot users? How many of you are terrified of this cute little pot? I promise, it is not scary.
Do you or someone you love struggle with:
- Chronic sinus infections
- Acute bacterial sinus infections
- Stuffy nose
- Seasonal allergies
- Viral upper respiratory infections
- Pregnancy related sinus issues
Neti pot can be a super simple, super inexpensive way to eliminate or ease the symptoms of all the things listed above.
A basic explanation of how the Neti pot works is that it thins mucus and helps flush it out of the nasal passages.
A more biological explanation for how the Neti pot works has to do with tiny, hair-like structures called cilia that line the inside of the nasal and sinus cavities. These cilia wave back and forth to push mucus either to the back of the throat where it can be swallowed, or to the nose to be blown out. Saline solution can help increase the speed and improve coordination of the cilia so that they may more effectively remove the allergens and other irritants that cause sinus problems.
I also like to add colloidal silver to my neti pot for it's anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-inflammatory properties.
Silver naturally holds onto oxygen molecules, which readily react with the sulfhydral (H) groups that surround bacterial and viruses. In turn, this helps block the life-preserving cellular process known as cellular respiration, which is defined as “the set of metabolic reactions and processes that take place in the cells of organisms to convert biochemical energy from nutrients into adenosine triphosphate (ATP), and then release waste products.”
Silver ions can attach to bacteria cell membranes directly and produce the same respiration-blocking effect.
